The SearchMaxx experiment, day 0: growing a new site in public

We sell one thing: getting software companies found when buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google. The fair question from anyone thinking of hiring us is "does it work?" Client results answer part of that. This experiment answers the rest in the open.

searchmaxx.link is a brand-new domain. This post records where it starts. Every week we will publish a short update with the real numbers, including the weeks where nothing moves.

Where we start

Measure October 18, 2026 Source
Google clicks a day 0 Google Search Console
Google impressions a day 0 Google Search Console
Sites linking to searchmaxx.link 0 DataForSEO backlinks index
Times AI engines name us Not measured yet Our weekly AI answer count
Blog posts 26, including this one This blog

The site went live this week. It is a single landing page, a free site check, and this blog.

What we will do

Only the work we do for clients:

  1. Make the site easy for AI engines to read. The pages are plain server-rendered HTML. robots.txt lets the AI search crawlers in. Every page has a title, a description and structured data.
  2. Publish one useful post at a time. Guides to AI search that answer a question someone actually asks, with sources and examples you can check.
  3. Build a free tool people use. The site check tells anyone in about 10 seconds whether AI crawlers can read their site.
  4. Earn links by being worth citing. Original data, honest case studies, and answers to questions people ask in forums and communities.

What we will not do

  • Buy links, or swap them.
  • Publish posts we would not put our name on.
  • Report a number we cannot show you the source for.

What we will measure every week

  • Google clicks and impressions a day, from Google Search Console.
  • Sites linking to us, from the DataForSEO backlinks index.
  • How often AI engines name SearchMaxx. Each week we will ask ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity the same set of buyer questions, such as "who can get my startup mentioned by ChatGPT?", and count how many answers name us. We will publish the questions and the counts.

A new domain usually takes weeks before Google sends it any traffic, so expect the first few updates to be small. That is part of the record too.

The next update comes out next Sunday. Follow along with the RSS feed.

  2. AI crawlers don't run JavaScript. Here's how to see what they see

Oct 16, 2026 - ChatGPT's, Claude's and Perplexity's crawlers read the HTML your server sends and skip the JavaScript. If your words only appear after JavaScript runs, those engines see an empty page.

Oct 15, 2026 - OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and Google each run several bots. Some put you in AI search answers and some only collect training data. Here is which is which, and a robots.txt you can copy.
