See what changed between two site snapshots

Compare crawl exports before and after a site update. Review the exact changes to titles, descriptions, canonical tags, robots directives and exported page text.

Your files stay in this browser tab. No account, upload or automatic storage. Download a snapshot to keep it for a later comparison.

Each input needs URL and Title. Optional columns: Description, Canonical, Robots, Content. Both snapshots must include the same supported fields. Limits per input: 2 MB for CSV, 16 MB for saved JSON, and 10,000 pages.

Notes are included in the changes CSV. Snapshot JSON contains the page data and label only.

Choose two files, paste their contents, or load the synthetic sample.

Snapshot instructions, limits and questions

Make a snapshot you can compare later

  1. Export a crawl CSV with one row per URL and a Title column. Include Description, Canonical, Robots and plain text Content if you want to compare them.
  2. Keep the crawl scope and extraction settings the same. Save a dated export before a release, then another after it.
  3. Load both exports and enter their dates or labels. Compare snapshots and add notes about the release.
  4. Download the changes CSV for your review log. Save each snapshot JSON to your device. Next time, load the saved after JSON as your before input and compare it with a new crawl export.

The tool records when it creates the JSON file. That timestamp is not the crawl date. Enter the crawl date as the snapshot label.

Supported columns and comparison rules

Headers ignore case and surrounding spaces. URL also accepts Address. Title accepts Title 1. Description accepts Meta description or Meta description 1. Canonical accepts Canonical URL or Canonical link element 1. Robots accepts Meta robots or Meta robots 1. Content accepts Text or Plain text. Other columns are ignored. Duplicate supported columns and duplicate URLs are rejected.

URLs must be absolute HTTP or HTTPS URLs without credentials. We remove fragments and use the browser's URL normalization. Query strings and trailing slashes remain distinct. Field values compare exactly, including whitespace and letter case. Empty cells count as values. A missing column is different from an empty cell, so both inputs must use the same fields.

Each matching URL is counted once as changed or unchanged. Changed rows show every field difference. A URL only in one snapshot may reflect a different crawl scope or a failed crawl. It does not prove that a page was published or deleted. The Paidwick sample is synthetic.

What to review after a change

Check that the new title describes the page and that robots directives match your intent. Google uses several sources for search result titles. Read Google's title link guidance and robots meta tag reference before changing these fields.

Questions about the change tracker

Does this monitor my live site?

No. This first version compares files you provide. It does not crawl pages, schedule checks, send alerts, inspect HTTP headers or measure search results.

Did a change cause my traffic loss?

This comparison cannot establish a cause or attribute performance. Review dates alongside Search Console data with the traffic loss analyzer. Confirm the live page and crawl settings before taking action.

Where are my snapshots saved?

Only in files you download. Refreshing or closing this tab clears its inputs. Reload a snapshot JSON downloaded here to compare it later. Keep original crawl files too. Saved JSON allows up to 16 MB to accommodate the extra structure and escaping in a 2 MB CSV.
