Case study: 515 to 2,573 Google clicks a day in 12 weeks

These are real Google Search Console numbers from an open-source AI company we grew between February 9 and May 4, 2026. That is 12 weeks, the same length as our activation plan. We are keeping the company's name private.

Google clicks per day for an open-source AI company, February 9 to May 4, 2026. Clicks rise from about 515 a day to a peak near 3,500 in early April and finish around 2,573 a day.

The numbers

Measure First two weeks Last two weeks
Google clicks a day 515 2,573
Google impressions a day 32,148 112,144
  • 176,079 clicks in total over the 12 weeks.
  • 66% of clicks in the top 1,000 queries came from searches that did not include the company's name.

The second number matters most. Clicks from people already searching your name mostly show that your brand is known. Clicks from searches without your name are new people finding you while they look for an answer.

Where the growth came from

Most of the growth came from pages built for the searches buyers make while they are choosing, for example model leaderboards and "best model for coding" guides. People searching those questions had not heard of the company. They were trying to decide something, and they found a page that helped them decide.

The same pages are the kind AI engines cite, because they answer a specific question directly. When ChatGPT or Perplexity answers "what is the best model for coding?", it looks for a page that compares the options and states a verdict.

What to take from it

  • Write for the question, not the keyword. "Best model for coding" is a question with a decision behind it. A page that answers it fully gets both the Google click and the AI citation.
  • Expect impressions first. Impressions rose before clicks did. When a page starts appearing, it usually takes a few weeks to climb to positions people click.
  • Most of the upside is non-brand. If most of your clicks today come from your own name, your best growth is in the questions buyers ask before they know you.

We are running the same process on this site in public. Follow the experiment.
